Saturday, November 14th, 2009Bangalore IT.Biz 2009: Karnataka IT Export Awards 2008-09
Friday, November 13th, 2009Participation better this time, says govt Curtains Come Down On Bangalore IT.Biz 2009 TIMES NEWS NETWORK
Bangalore: Bangalore IT.biz, which ended on Friday, saw 630 companies, 760 delegates, 5,500 business visitors, 110 speakers and 92 exhibitors participating.
It had 8 countries, with Chile as country partner to the event, and 8 states including Assam and Orissa venturing out to find partners in the forum.
The government said the participation was better than that in the last year. “We received about 100 applications from SMEs to present their companies at the event, out of which 46 held meetings here to discuss their propositions,” Ashok Kumar Manoli, principal secretary in the state’s IT department said. “Our focus this year was towards attracting pure IT companies. We also kept in mind that the crowd that came to the exhibition would primarily comprise of prospective business clients.” He added that the primary objective was to add value to the participants by responding to the current needs of the industry, which included focus on emerging sectors, opportunity to garner more business, knowledge enhancement and networking, especially in the backdrop of global slowdown.
The highlight on each day was the Vision 2020 Leadership Series that had industry giants Nandan Nilekani, chairman, Unique Identification Authority of India, Padmasree Warrior, chief technology officer, Cisco Sytems and Praveen Vishakantaiah, country head, Intel Technologies addressing the audience on growth and challenges in their respective fields.
The event, which was focussed on taking IT to the masses, was driven by conferences, unlike in the early years where the exhibition played an equally big role.
